This week (7-13 February) is National Apprenticeship Week – there’s a lot going on in Devon and we thought we’d bring you a little list of events that might interest you.
Monday 7 February
12noon – University of Plymouth
Discover Degree Apprenticeships at University of Plymouth
An exploratory session about Degree and Higher Apprenticeships at the University of Plymouth.
The session will cover:
- How degree apprenticeships work and their benefits
- Overview of UoP apprenticeship portfolio
- Introduction to our dedicated Central Apprenticeship Hub who can support through every step of the apprenticeship journey
- Advice and guidance around next steps
2pm – National Careers Service – Apprenticeships—Could they be right for me?
Tuesday 8 February
10am – South West Apprenticeship Ambassador Network Event
Building a Sustainable Economy through Apprenticeships
To celebrate National Apprenticeship Week 2022 join SWAAN Chair, Nigel Fenn for a FREE online event and hear from our panel about how Apprenticeships have helped their business to be economically sustainable.
The session will include:
- Talks from key SWAAN Ambassadors and an Apprentice on their experiences
- Share your own experiences and/or ask questions
- Let us know about any potential barriers you may be facing

Torbay Business Forum Apprenticeship Takeover
Breakfast Bytes returns to your screens on 8th February at 8.30-9.30am for a National Apprenticeship Week special with an array of speakers.

Kickstart to Apprenticeship – Retaining your Kickstart as an apprentice
Explore how your business can benefit from taking your Kickstart placement through to an apprenticeship
10am – University of Plymouth
Ask an Employer- National Apprenticeship Week 2022
Do you want to know what it’s really like to have an apprentice?
Do you have questions that you would like answered by experienced apprentice employers?
Join UoP for their Ask an Employer session, where you will have the opportunity to hear from their experienced panel of employer partners about their journey with apprenticeships.
Wednesday 9 February
11am – South West Apprenticeship Ambassador Network Event
Creating Social Mobility through Apprenticeships
From aiding people into work, to levelling up and progression this session will look at how Apprenticeships can help improve Social Mobility
12pm – University of Plymouth – Ask an Apprentice- Progression to Apprenticeships
Ask and Apprentice – Progression to Apprenticeships – This session is specifically designed for school leavers and those progressing from Level 3, 4 and 5 programmes.
Join UoP for their Ask an Apprentice session, where you will have the opportunity to hear from their experienced panel of Apprentices about their journey with apprenticeships. As well as a chance to ask those burning questions and get answers from those who have experienced it first hand.
1pm – University of Plymouth – Ask an Apprentice- Existing Employees
This session is specifically designed for existing employees looking for development and training.
Join UoP for their Ask an Apprentice session, where you will have the opportunity to hear from their experienced panel of Apprentices about their journey with apprenticeships. As well as a chance to ask those burning questions and get answers from those who have experienced it first hand.
3pm – SWAAN Employer Information Sessions – South West Apprenticeship Ambassador Network (SW-AAN) Information Event
For employers who have heard of, or who are interested in having their apprentices join, the South West Apprenticeship Ambassador Network.
Sessions will provide an overview of SWAAN, what we do, the types of events we help at, the benefits of this to employers and apprentices and how to get involved/next steps.
Also open to apprentices who are interested in joining the network and want to know more.
5.30pm – Hinkley Point Build Your Future: Be Apprenticeship Ready
Join SWAN Ambassadors Hinkley Point C during National Apprenticeship Week to hear from some of their employers about what makes an application stand out and receive some invaluable advice and inspiration from some of our current apprentices.
Thursday 10 February
10:30am – South West Apprenticeship Ambassador Network Event
Supporting SME’s through Apprenticeships
From employing an apprentice through to accessing the Shared Levy this session shares best practice on how Apprenticeships can support SME’s
3.30pm – University of Plymouth – Discover Degree Apprenticeships at UoP Tickets
Discover Degree Apprenticeships at Up – This is an exploratory session about Degree and Higher Apprenticeships at the University of Plymouth.
The session will cover:
